Range Rules

Safe firearms handling is always Priority #1 at Lonesome Oak. Our members and their guests are expected to know and abide by ALL the range safety rules AT ALL TIMES. Always remember the four key rules of firearms safety:

  • Treat every gun as if it is loaded.
  • Never point a gun at something you do not intend to destroy.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and ready to shoot.
  • Know your target and what is beyond it.
In addition to those basics, there are specific rules for our range.

Lonesome Oak Range Rules

This is a private gun range for members only.  It’s not required to call ahead to shoot, and you are welcome to use any bay you want if it’s not in use by another member or reserved for a private class or match. Keep in mind that the 1st, 3rd and 4th Saturday of every month there will be a match going on, so on those Saturday’s the range will be busy.  If you reserve a bay and it’s not occupied within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time, the bay will be become available for others to use.

Shooting hours are 8am to 5pm daily. No exceptions.

Release/Waiver
Everyone must have a Release/Waiver form signed and on file at Lonesome Oak Gun Range whether you are a member, guest, observer, instructor, student or match competitor.  Members are responsible for their guest to sign a Release/Waiver form. Please make sure to reference your member number on your guest “signed” form.
Guest fee is $15.00 each visit.  There is no limit on guest visit and no need to for a new release, after their first visit and release is on file for the year. Please place the release form and fee thru the office door slot.  You may bring your spouse to shoot with you at the range four (4) times a year at no cost.  If your spouse is an avid shooter, they may become an Associate Member at half the cost of member fee.  You may also bring your under aged child (17 or younger) as many times as you wish at no cost but must make sure to have a release signed and on file. Youth under 18 years old are not allowed to shoot at Lonesome Oak Gun Range without direct adult supervision of a current member and a signed release by both child and adult. Again, it’s your responsibility for all your family and guests to have a signed release form on file.

Gate Code
Never give out your private gate code, not even to family members.  If for any reason you are meeting your guest separately at the range, request a temporary gate code by texting 479-270-0129.

Safety Precautions

  • There is a vast difference of skill and experience among members and their guest.  It is your responsibility to maintain range safety. If you see unsafe gun handling, you must say something nicely and then report the situation to the office.  Unsafe behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Safety glasses and hearing protection are always required for everyone on the range.  We expect you to always wear these.
  • All firearms transported to and from the range must be in a safe unloaded condition.  Carry firearms in cases, bags or holsters only until ready to load.
  • Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.  Always keep muzzle pointed down range.  Keep finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
  • There are safety tables around the range.  No ammo at these tables.
  • Loading your ammo and shooting are allowed from INSIDE the bay only. Please holster your weapon before picking up mags, ammo or casings from the ground.
  • If you are showing someone your weapon, all rules remain.  Be sure it is empty (mag out, slide locked back, nothing in chamber).  Such activity is permitted at the safe tables or in the bay, 180 rule remains.
  • If you are row shooting, space yourself so no hot brass will hit you coming in from your side. Never send anyone or go downrange when weapons are not holstered.
  • Pointing any pistol or rifle beyond a bay’s 180 degree, sends you home!!

Bay Rules

  • There is no shotgun or skeet shooting allowed at Lonesome Oak Gun Range.
  • There is to be no driving in front of Bay 1 thru 4.  Instructors are the only ones allowed to drive thru there and park in the bays.
  • Members shooting on Bays 6 & 7 are permitted to drive in and unload gear, park and then drive back to load up.  You may NOT shoot in the bay while your vehicle is in it!  Again, only instructors are allowed to park in the bays while conducting a class.
  • Range provided target stands and sticks are provided in each bay and are made for pistol and rifle shooting only. After you are done shooting, set stands and rocks to the side of the bay.  You’re welcome to borrow stands from another bay if needed but please return to the correct bay when finished.
  • Rifles can ONLY be shot in Bays 6 & 7 (50 yards). NO RIFLE FIRE in Bays 1-5.
  • NEVER shoot out of any bay.  You must be within the side walls of the bay to shoot.
  • Targets must be arranged so the rounds impact the berm when shooting.  Do not shoot anything on the ground, as dangerous ricochets can occur.
  • Pick up your trash, including your cardboard targets.

Brass/Casings
You may pick up any brass on the Range.  If you are shooting aluminum casings, please pick them up and discard after shooting.

Drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited on the property.  Violation of this will result in immediate removal from the property and revocation of membership with no refund.

Lonesome Oak Gun Range is a hidden gem here in Northwest Arkansas and we want to keep it that way.  Please treat it as if it was your own and keep it clean.  We have plenty of trash cans placed around the property for you to dispose of trash.  Cigarettes and cigars need to be extinguished properly and disposed of in the trash cans.  Please don’t leave them on the ground!
